Kate just waves Tina and Mercedes off as they offer to help, wiping slushie from her eyes and forehead. The one day she didn’t wear waterproof mascara, of course. Sighing, she moves into the girls locker room, the nearest bathroom. It’s empty, so late after school, all the hopefuls from Cheerios tryouts already showered and changed and on their way home. Moving to one of the sinks, Kate surveys the damage. Ugh. Sticky blue covers her collar and clings through her bangs and the ends of her curls. Not to mention her blouse is completely ruined. Perfect ending to the first day back, she thinks to herself, rolling her eyes at her reflection.
